Perris Real Estate

With less than 70,000 residents, the relatively small city of Perris, located in Riverside County and bordered by Menifee, Moreno Valley and Canyon Lake is, nevertheless, one of the most diverse cities in Southern California.

Perris Valley was settled in the 1880s, with much of the land used as agricultural and grazing land. As the California Southern Railroad moved in creating a rail connection between the cities of Barstow and San Diego, Perris began to grow and prosper. A temperate, Mediterranean climate throughout the year makes the area perfect for the agriculture that was an integral part of its history and is still relevant and present today.

Perris Valley Airport has become famous for its crowd of skydivers, both amateur and professional. Known as the “Skydiving Capital of America,” it is not uncommon to see parachutes in the air on almost any day of the year. The area has been used several times for filmmaking, including the skydiving scenes in The Bucket List which were filmed nearby. The train station scenes in the film Calendar Girl were also shot in Perris at the old railway station.

The city of Perris is served by three school districts which include the Perris Elementary School District, Perris Union High School District, and the Val Verde Unified School District which also serves portions of Moreno Valley. Close proximity to the University of California at Riverside campus, as well as multiple community colleges, make this an ideal area for student and faculty affordable housing. The area is rich with history that includes not only the railway systems of early California but also the Mexican Traqueros of the 1890s, the ancestors of many of today’s residents.
