Chino Real Estate
At the westernmost edge of the Inland Empire lies Chino and the surrounding Chino Valley, an area that is famous as a center of agriculture and dairy farming for a large portion of the southwestern United States. Dating back to the Spanish land grant that formed Rancho Santa Ana del Chino, the area was nearly always an important agricultural hub. In 2008 the City of Chino received a prestigious award naming it one of the “100 Best Communities for Youth” for the second time in only three years.
An affordable place to live, Chino has often been used by the Hollywood entertainment industry to shoot scenes that required settings that duplicated the American Midwest. The Chino Valley is located at the foot of an alluvial plain and boasts fertile topsoil to depths of as far as four feet, creating an agricultural mecca that is unique in Southern California. Sugar beets, sweet corn, tomatoes, strawberries, peaches and walnuts are all grown abundantly.
Expansive dairy farms have flourished in the area since the 1950s thanks to many of the ethnic Dutch families that settled there. Chino soon became the largest milk producing community in the United States. Pastoral and bucolic, the Chino Valley offers horse properties, farms and ranches among its lifestyle options. The suburban atmosphere, while close to all the big city amenities anyone could ask for, gives Chino a small town, country atmosphere.
Two major correctional facilities in the area help give the community a strong economy, providing one of the top four places of employment along with the Chino Valley Unified School district and the Chino Valley Medical Center. Chino has 11 elementary schools, three junior high schools and three high schools. Only 35 miles from Los Angeles, 26 miles from Riverside and 30 miles to Santa Ana, Chino is perfectly situated for residents who need to commute to Los Angeles or Orange County for work every day.
